CG expands its RMU capacity to cater to the Indian Subcontinent

• To address larger goal of cutting power distribution losses
• Expansion of domestic footprint, investment of INR 100 mn
• Production capacity more than doubled to produce 1,000 RMUs per month

Avantha Group Company CG’s joint venture – CG Lucy, today inaugurated its new Ring Main Unit (RMU) production facility at Nashik, India. Incorporated in 1994, CG Lucy Switchgear Ltd. is a joint venture company between CG and W. Lucy & Co. Ltd., Oxford, U.K. The facility offers RMUs for enhancing the efficiency of power distribution networks, preventing transformer burnouts and is equipped with a partial discharge testing facility up to 33kV.

The new facility is the fruition of CG’s expansion strategy in the domestic market. CG Lucy has more than doubled its capacity to produce 1000 RMUs per month for the growing demand of reliable and secure power supply in the rapidly expanding Indian subcontinent. Built with an investment of INR 100 million, this plant is spread across an area of 3500 square meters and aims to employ approximately 200 people.

This plant is specially equipped with an Automated Sealant preparation process, a Robotic Welding setup and a Partial Discharge test facility for producing High Quality and Reliable products. It will produce RMUs for the expansion of power distribution networks for utilities, especially in megacities, industries, infrastructure projects and buildings with a huge power demand. Compact, lightweight and easy to install, these RMUs isolate the faulty section, ensuring continuous power supply to end users. They can be universally applied across 12kV/

CG installs ZIV Substation Automation System at Latin America’s largest photovoltaic power plant

CG installs ZIV Substation Automation System at Latin America’s largest photovoltaic power plant

•   Complete 61850 Substation Automation System (SAS) and associated engineering
•   Intelligent Electrical Devices (IED), system integration, commissioning, and training

Avantha Group Company CG’s Automation Business Unit (BU), through the Spanish contractor Isastur, has installed, in the Llanos de LLampo substation, in Chile, a complete 61850
SAS based on ZIV protection IEDs and a SAS gateway, providing also the associated engineering, system integration, commissioning, and training services. The size of the order is 500.000 Euros.
SunEdison’s 100‐Megawatt Llano de Llampos substation is located in the Atacama Desert in Chile. It distributes the energy generated by the largest Solar Photovoltaic Plant in Latin America (100 MW). The Substation’s PV modules transform sunlight radiation into  direct current (DC) electric power after converting it to alternating current (AC) by means of an inverter. This power is then distributed through the Sistema Interconectado Central High Voltage (HV) power lines.
After acquiring ZIV, CG is a key provider and an important player in the global smart grid market where it offers ZIV meters, protections, communication and automation solutions. CG offers innovative Substation Automation Systems (SAS) and Distribution Automation Solutions (DAS) commercialized under the ZIV® brand. ZIV has successfully been working in Latin America for the last 16 years supplying its IEDs and Systems to the main Utilities in the Region.

Speaking about this SAS project, Mr. Alejandro Vega, Isastur project Manager at Llano de Campos, said “ZIV played a key role in the successful commissioning of the 61850 Substation Automation System, meeting both delivery time and budget. They have continually displayed their technical ability to ensure minimum deviations throughout the commissioning period. We are very satisfied with the supplied ZIV
61850 SAS and with the service provided all the way from tender to commissioning.”
Speaking about this project, Avantha Group Company CG’s CEO & Managing Director, Laurent Demortier said: “As a global pioneering leader in the management and application of electrical energy, this installation reaffirms our strengths in several areas ‐ our expertise in automation technology, our expertise in transmission and distribution of power from renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic power plants, and our expertise and presence in Latin America. It is another milestone in our global

expansion and a vital component of our plans to gain expertise in technologies that cover the entire power spectrum – from generation, to automated transmission and distribution, to final consumption.”

The new order shows increased trust by PT PLN in CG’s manufacturing expertise in this segment and will further bolster its position as a key provider of high‐voltage transformers in the South East Asian market. The order comes on the back of CG’s successful completion of a similar first order in September
2013.

Speaking about the latest order, Avantha Group Company CG’s CEO & Managing Director, Laurent Demortier, said: “I would like to thank PT PLN Indonesia for placing its continued trust in CG’s energy products and technological expertise in the Ultra High Voltage (UHV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) segments. Indonesia is a key strategic geography for CG, and the order sanctions the large investment done to bring state‐of‐the‐art EHV solutions to the country. Inflation targeting may keep rates elevated in CY 15

Statement by Mr.Yogesh Agarwal, MD and CEO of Avantha Group Company BILT

Inflation targeting may keep rates elevated in CY 15

•  Inflation targeting may prolong high interest rate cycle for CY 15 •  Growth and investment to be casualties of inflation targeting •  Elections, monsoon factors likely to act as policy trigger points •  See rates remaining elevated throughout most of CY 15

“We welcome the RBI’s move to keep the repo rate and the CRR on hold though a slash in the repo rate by atleast 25 bps would have brought in some positive momentum to the economy and added to the current market cheer.
While the RBI seems to be veering towards targeting consumer price inflation as its dominant guidepost, I believe this may result in a prolonged period of high rates this calendar without any real dampening of inflationary pressures. That’s because core consumer price inflation does not respond well to monetary measures. In such a situation, growth and investments could be casualties in an already fragile environment.
Going forward, much depends on non economic factors such as the elections which will be the main trigger come May. Risk of an El‐Nino exerting upward pressure on food prices can’t also be ruled out. Inflation, both CPI and WPI have come off their highs but if it stays the course even at these levels, then rates will not come down before the latter half of the current calendar year, if at all”.
